Custom Application Design

Nowadays, each business is different. Everyone has to do things just that little bit 'out of the normal' in order to differentiate your product or service from your competitors.

However, most computer applications try and force you to fit 'their' way of doing things, or just havent got enough flexibility to do what you want it to do.

This is where we can step in and write an application that suits your exact needs, and does exactly what you want it to do, not what it thinks you need to do.

We have spent many years writing applications for hundreds of different industries. We have gathered together the best tools in the marketplace which enables us to create the right program for you with minimum time and bugs.

Just have a look at our client case studies to see the types of things that we can do:

Cash Advantage
Buslink
PTM Homes
Aboriginal Benefits Reserve
Arnhem Highway Estates
Darwin Turf Club
Queensland Medical Labs
St. Marys Football Club

Cash Advantage

Liz & Clem Weller run a local business called Cash Advantage, which enable people to get short term loans by bringing in their personal items to exchange or sell for cash.

They needed a program which would manage the loan contracts, and inform them when particular contracts expired or were up for renewal etc. We wrote their original cash management program way back in 1994, then we re-wrote everything in Windows for the GST changeover in 2000.

The system is currently in operation in both their stores, and we are looking at integrating it to their web site so that people can see what is available in store whilst on line. (coming soon)

Buslink

Buslink run probably the largest charter and school bus operation in the NT. They needed several databases to control the servicing requirements on their bus fleet, as well as managing fuel consumption and tyre usage.

We sat down and wrote them an integrated suite of fleet management applications to help them control the cost of maintaining their fleet, as well as ensuring that their buses were maintained to the highest level.

PTM Homes

PTM is one of Darwin's leading building companies. They have won a major government and defence housing contract to provide maintenance services across the top end.

To this end, they needed a way to manage all the maintenance requests incoming from the housing department, and the defence department - then they needed to project manage their contractors to ensure that jobs were being taken care of within the proper timeframes.

We wrote a series of maintenance databases which helps their contract co-ordinators to allocate jobs to their contractors, and keep tabs on urgent or routine maintenance operations which ensure that they win more lucrative contracts in the future.

Aboriginal Benefits Reserve

ABR are responsible for sifting through grant applications from Aboriginal Organisations and seeing which ones will be approved. Every year, they receive hundreds of applications for various projects.

We re-wrote an older dBase IV database that they were using in order to make it Y2K compliant, and in the process we improved a lot of areas on the system.

One of the common tasks that we used to perform for ABR on their old system was modify or create custom reports all the time. To this end, we designed the report interface on the new system to be totally customisable using the Clarion Report Writer module.

Now, all we have to do is email the user a new report, and they can 'plug' it into their software and it acts like an internal report!

Arnhem Highway Estates

Just south of Darwin are a lot of blocks of land owned by AHE. These blocks are available for rental/purchase plans by tenants.

We designed a custom program to track rental payments from tenants and check whether they were ahead or behind in their payments.

This system links with MYOB for financial reporting. It also prints out comprehensive reporting and handles mixed rentals with and without GST depending on when the contract was instigated.

Darwin Turf Club

The Darwin Cup Carnival is one of the premier sporting events on the local calendar. Blaze Software is a sponsor of the Cup, and we were also responsible for writing an application to handle ticket sales for the Carnival.

The system handles bulk ticket purchases and tracks whether the tickets are to be couriered, mailed or picked up by the customer. It also warns staff if tickets are oversold.

In addition, we wrote a program to handle the bookings of the marquees at the track during carnival time.

Queensland Medical Labs

QML needed a simple to use, quick and easy program to print patient labels for their remote locations.

We wrote a quick application which would print out details on any standard, customisable label size, and import data from a standard text flat file.

St. Marys Football Club

Not only football, but St. Marys also have a busy social club with bars, restaurants, keno, bingo and pokies. They needed a user friendly 'front end' to collect all this data on a daily basis and feed it into an Attache General Ledger system on the back end.
